  3. Social Benefits of Exercise • Being physically fit helps increase self-esteem. • Higher self-esteem usually results in people being more social. • Working out or playing a sport gives you an opportunity to interact with others your normally wouldn’t. 6th Grade

  4. Emotional Benefits of Exercise • Exercise affects the nervous system and releases chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine that make us feel calm and happy. • You don’t want to wait for those mood feelings to come by accident, YOU can bring them on by exercising. 6th Grade

StressStress- the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response Effects on the body: • Headache • Muscle tension or pain • Chest pain • Fatigue • Irritability/Angry Outbursts Possible Stressors: • Arguing with your friends • A bad grade • Moving to a new school • Family illness/death • Not making a team • Parents fighting 6th Grade
