  1. Carbon Footprint What can I do to reduce mine?

  2. At Home • Change the light bulbs in your house. • Both CFL and LED light bulbs offer high energy savings. • LED lights last longer and use less energy, however they are more expensive. • CFL bulbs are cheaper and some LED bulbs require different fittings than current lights are made with.

  3. At Home • Unplug appliances when not in use. • Replace paper napkins with cloth napkins to reduce garbage. • Drink tap water instead of buying bottled water. • Turn down the heat in the winter and the air conditioning in the summer. • Recycle whatever you can.

  4. At Home • Thoroughly insulate your house. • Heat can escape through the roof, floor, walls, and windows. • If you can make more heat stay in your house, you use less energy because you don’t have to continue to reheat it.

  5. Out of the House • Avoid purchasing items that have a lot of packaging. • Bring your own bag to the grocery store. • Run all of your errands in one trip to use as little gas as possible. • Buy local and organic foods.
