  3. Our Mission Statement WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is committed to excellence in management education in terms of both learning and knowledge creation. Our commitment to learning involves the development of first-rate graduates and the provision of a life-long learning environment for managers. Our commitment to knowledge creation aims to produce high-quality research output and other intellectual contributions. We pursue our mission in particular by • emphasizing the global dimension of business; • combining academic rigor with practical relevance; • encouraging responsible leadership and teamwork; • creating a stimulating intellectual and international environment; • attracting and developing high-quality researchers; • supporting an entrepreneurial culture; • providing service to the community.   6. Benchmark Accreditations • In 1998, WHU became the first German university-level institution to be accredited by EQUIS. The accreditation has been extended in 2003 and 2009 for another five years. • The Bachelor, Master, MBA, and EMBA Programs are accredited by FIBAA • The Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA Program is accredited by AACSB, WHU is currently going through the accreditation process

Rankings BWL Ranking Mai 2009 WHU is consistently placed among the top schools in national and international rankings:   • Top placed in „Handelsblatt Betriebswirte Ranking 2009: Die Top-25 Fakultäten für BWL“ • Top placed in the university ranking of personnel managers 2009 from „WirtschaftsWoche“ and „JungeKarriere“ • Once again excellent positions in the „CHE-Forschungsranking“ and „ZEIT/CHE-Hochschulranking 2008“ • Worldwide rank 18 in the international Financial Times-Ranking 2009 for EMBA-Programm • Further top positions in rankings of Focus, Wall Street Journal, Spiegel Online, FAZ Hochschulanzeiger etc.

Location • WHU is centrally located at the confluence of the rivers Rhine an Mosel with easy connections to • many major European cities. • Studying at WHU means learning and living in one of Europe‘s most beautiful surroundings, the • Upper Middle Rhine Valley, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • Our campus derives its special charm from the successful blend of old and modern architecture • around the Castle Square. This, together with the adjacent park gives the impression of an authentic • self-contained campus university. • WHU has auditoriums and study rooms equipped with state-of-the-art media technology with wireless LAN across the entire campus and an excellently stocked library.

  9. Student Initiatives • Our study programs are indeed challenging for students at WHU but not to the detriment of student life. Many of them choose to enrich their WHU experience by dedicating time to one of the many existing student initiatives. • Sport, music, art, theater or social programs, campus life really does have something for everyone. Barely a class of students graduates from a program at WHU without having added a new initiative to the list.

Areas of co-operation include: • Support at the placement of internships and recruiting activities • Guest-lectures in courses and exclusive company presentations • Practice-related research projects and membership in WHU centers • Research of academic topics within the context of practical research, Master theses as well as dissertations. • Many companies support WHU as founders, benefactors, friends and supporters: • Donations of Chairs or assistant professorships • Donations of rooms or room equipment • financial donations

  18. Network - Alumni • WHU graduates maintain close links with their Alma Mater and with each other. The manageable number of students ensures that these links are durable and strong. • Alumni support the WHU financially and through their intellectual activities in workshops, seminars, and annual meetings. • Many alumni participate in the School‘s student recruitment. • Almost all of our graduates become members of WHU‘s Alumni Association („In Praxi“). Currently there are about 2,000 members listed at In Praxi.
