Jammu & Kashmir • Precipitation • Subject to Orographic Effect • Rains from March to May • Annual Rainfall is 75cms • Mountain • Mountain ranges: Karakoram, Kyunlun, Zanskar, Nun Kun, Nanga Parbat, Siwalik, PirPanjal • Mountain peaks: Harmukh, Burzil, Amarnath, Toshimaidan • Rivers • Jhelum river is the main waterway of Jammu & Kashmir • Wullar Lake – Largest freshwater lake in India http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Jhelum_River_Bridge.JPG

Gilgit-Baltistan • Precipitation • 6in/150 mm annually (Portland can get this kind of rainfall in a few days) • Mountains • Ranges: Himalaya, Karakoram, Hindu Kush all converge here • Peaks: The second highest mountain in the world, K2, is here.
