Immaculata University Cohorts • Immaculata University offers the MA and EDD programs in Educational Leadership at offsite locations throughout Pennsylvania • Ex: Ed.D. at York Suburban, MA at Lincoln Intermediate Unit, MA at Conewago Valley, etc. • Goal is to work with school districts to provide qualified candidates convenient access to our programs and support services
MA Program • The MA program is 36 credits or 12 courses • Three tracks to choose from: • Instructional STEM track • Administrative track • Certification only – principal’s or supervisor’s • See catalog pp. 26-35 for program rationale and course descriptions
Instructional STEM Track • Students in this track receive 12 credits of STEM • Curriculum – 36 credits • EDL 622 Curriculum and Instruction • EDL 626 School Community Relations • EDL 615 Professional Ethics • EDL 637 Computers in Education • EDL 634 Content Area Reading • GEN 502 Methods of Research • GEN 503 Interpersonal Relations • GEN 501 Human Development • STEM courses – 12 credits taken through grant participation • EDL 599/600 Comprehensive Exam
Administrative Track • Students in this track receive 9 credits of STEM but may also pursue an administrative certification with addition of practicum experience • Curriculum – 36 credits • EDL 622 Curriculum and Instruction* • EDL 626 School Community Relations* • EDL 621 Administration* • EDL 625 School Law and the Legal Process* • EDL 623 Supervision* • GEN 502 Methods of Research • GEN 503 Interpersonal Relations • GEN 501 Human Development • EDL 636 Art and Science of Grant Writing • STEM courses – 9 credits taken through grant participation • EDL 599/600 Comprehensive Exam
Principal’s Certification • Required Coursework • EDL 621 Administration • EDL 622 Curriculum and Instruction • EDL 623 Supervision • EDL 625 School Law • EDL 626 School Community Relations • EDL 690 Practicum (only course not part of MA) • EDL 690: Four class meetings; 360 hours. • Students must have three years professional school experience to pursue certification and five years experience when they apply for certification • Certification also requires completion of state mandated test
Supervisor-Single Subject or Special Education • Required Coursework • GEN 501 Human Development • GEN 503 Interpersonal Relations • EDL 621 Administration • EDL 622 Curriculum and Instruction • EDL 623 Supervision • EDL 625 School Law • EDL 626 School Community Relations • EDL 693 Supervisory Internship (only course not part of MA) • Students must have five years professional school experience to be admitted into program • Certification also requires completion of state mandated test
Support for Cohort Students • Online New Student Orientation • Immaculata representatives visit cohort site throughout the year • Scheduled Skype sessions • Cohort students have access to the electronic article research databases, online bookstore, and the university portal
Program Details • Four courses offered per year – see tentative schedule in packet • Each course meets one night per week for 8 weeks for four hours • Faculty are combination of on campus instructors, associate faculty, and adjuncts experienced in the field • Course formats include in class, online, and blended delivery models
Program Details • Tuition is $1410 per course for the 2010/2011 school year, which represents 20% discount over main campus tuition • Full or partial payment is due before the start of each course to register • Installment plan • Financial aid • Third party billing
Application Process • Application form (may submit form in catalog or online http://www.immaculata.edu/gradapply) • Official transcripts • Two recommendations (in catalog) • Copy of teaching certificate • Goals statement • Application Fee Waived!
Application Details Deadline is March 11th If applying online, be sure to put “STEM Grant” location next to your last name for tracking purposes Be sure to select track choice and mark MA and/or Principal’s certification on application Anticipating early April start
