Facts about Ethiopia • Populous nation (70m- popn growth exceeds agricultural prodn) • Economy predominantly agrarian • Land area of 1.1 million km2; 60% arable • 18 major & 49 sub-agro-ecologies with diverse soil; plant & animal genetic resources • Posses largest livestock popn (73m ruminants; 7m equines; 1.2 camels; 58 poultry) with exotic cattle blood below 0.05 %
