  3. Compound-Complex • 2 or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clause Example Because Susan was having trouble with her spelling, she purchased a computer with a spell checker, and the results made her expenditure worthwhile.

  4. Compound vs. Compound-Complex Compound She did the work well, and she was paid well. Compound-Complex Because she did the work well, she was paid well, and she was satisfied.
