  1. Forms of Energy By sierra Burrell Mrs. Pickard’s science class

  2. Mechanical Energy The energy that moves objects is mechanical energy. My definition: Energy that moves objects.

  3. Sound Energy Sound results from the vibration of particles in a solid, liquid or gas. My definition: Sound that comes from the vibration of particles.

  4. Chemical Energy Energy that is stored in the chemical composition of matter. My definition: Energy stored in a material because of the type of arrangement of atoms in the substance.

  5. Thermal Energy The total amount of energy from the movement of particles in matter. My definition: Amount of energy caused by the motion of particles in matter.

  6. Electromagnetic Energy Energy that is transmitted through space in the form of electromagnetic waves. Kid-friendly definition: Energy that moves through space as electromagnetic waves.

  7. Nuclear Energy The center of an atom, it’s nucleus, is the source of nuclear energy. Kid-friendly definition: A nucleus is the source of nuclear energy.

  8. Potential Energy The stored energy that an object has due to it’s position or chemical composition. Kid-friendly definition: The energy stored in an object because of it’s position or chemical arrangement.

  9. Kinetic Energy The energy of motion. Kid definition: The energy of anything moving.
