  3. None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah hath power over all things? (2:106)

  4. Conditions of Naskh • The Mansookh has to have been a divine law • The Naasikh has to be a divine command • The Mansookh should not have a specific time limit

  5. Knowledge of Nasikh • A clear narration from the Prophet or Sahaba • Ijmaa’ • History of Seerah

  6. SurahBaqarah Ayah 184 and 186 (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will, is better for him. And it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. (2:184) When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way. (2:186)

Baqarah Ayah 240 and 234 Those of you who die and leave widows should bequeath for their widows a year’s maintenance and residence; but if they leave (The residence), there is no blame on you for what they do with themselves, provided it is reasonable. And Allah is exalted in Power, Wise. (2:240) If any of you die and leave widows behind, they shall wait concerning themselves four months and ten days: When they have fulfilled their term, there is no blame on you if they dispose of themselves in a just and reasonable manner,. And Allah is well acquainted with what ye do. (2:234)

  10. The Muhkam (Clear) and Mutashaabih (Obscure) Verses

  11. Al-Imran Ayah 7 He it is who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: “We believe in the book; the whole of it is from our Lord” and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding. (3:7)
