If the answer is “yes,” then there is a good chance that the valve or cartridge inside is cracked or broken. However, don’t worry. It is not always necessary to purchase a new tap and pay to have it installed. You can save a lot of time, money, and water by replacing the valves or cartridges inside! In taps, there are two types of valves. You have a ceramic disk cartridge if your tap has a single lever that controls temperature and flow. Typically, these are single tap cartridges with a diameter of 35 or 40 millimeters. Typically, it is made of plastic.

  2. You will need a pair of valves in either a 1/2″ BSP thread size or a 3/4″ BSP thread size if you have two separate handles for turning on or off the hot and cold water separately. Brass is almost always used to make these. It is not difficult to replace these. It won’t be difficult if you just follow the steps below: First and foremost, check to see that your tap is off for both hot and cold water. After turning off the water, remove the handle or handles with care and unscrew any covers until you can clearly see the valves. Take note that some handles may be secured by screws that are hidden, so look carefully for these. Because round brass rings hold ceramic cartridges in place, they must be removed counterclockwise. A ceramic cartridge should be lifted out vertically when removed. When removing valves, the screws must be removed counterclockwise. Make sure not to scratch or harm the chrome finish on the tap by using a pair of grips. After removing the old mixer tap valve, grease the body, make sure there is no debris or dirt in the tap, and install the new ones. They should be securely fastened, but try not to overtighten them because doing so could damage the valves. If nothing is leaking after you turn on the water, you can proceed with putting the handles back on. Take it slow and don’t be afraid, just remember that. If you’re really worried, call a plumber. Still, it will take less time and cost less than replacing the entire tap. Original Source: Ceramic Tap Cartridge Replacement
