  1. Reducing Your Carbon Footprint… Mark Gibson

  2. Don’t Drink Bottled Water • Plastic bottles account for a large percentage of waste and pollution. • The quality requirements for bottled water are much lower than tap water, meaning tap water is better for your health. • Bottled water needs to be shipped, which requires fuel and adds even more pollution to the environment.

  3. Seal Up Your Homes • Fix any drafty cracks or windows in your house. • A lot of energy used to heat or cool your house is being lost due to drafty windows or walls. • Fixing drafty areas will decrease the amount of energy you use and save you a lot of money.

  4. Switch To Fluorescent Bulbs • Switching to fluorescent light bulbs can drastically reduce the amount of energy your household consumes. • By switching to fluorescent light bulbs you can save up to $60 per year on energy bills.

  5. Buy Locally Grown Produce • Produce grown far away needs to be shipped, which puts a huge amount of carbon dioxide in the air. • Buying locally grown produce cuts down on carbon emissions from transporting produce. • Locally grown produce is also cheaper to buy because the farmers don’t need to pay shipping costs.

  6. Use Cold Water • Use cold water to wash your clothes. • By reducing the amount of hot water you use, you can cut down on the amount of energy your household uses, cutting back energy usage and your utility bill.
