  17. Leadership Team Discussion… What is your pastor supposed to be accomplishing? What is his/her responsibility? Who holds authority to decide how funding, resources and people are deployed for ministry in your church? Who is your pastor accountable to, and what is the evaluation process?

  18. How do you organize a church for change leadership? Utilize accountable leadership throughout the congregation Organize into a Single Board Governance structure

  20. Governance • Vision • Who is “our neighbor”? • What is our “method” of imparting discipleship? • How will we transform the world? The Church Council is responsible for governance.

  21. Leadership • Articulate the vision (inspire!) • Align the resources of the congregation to the vision. • Focus the congregation on the mission The pastor is responsible for leadership.

  22. Management • Aligning their specific ministries with the overall vision. • Operating specific minsitries within the boundaries (values, norms). • Aligning their specific ministries in fulfilling the overall vision of the congregation. • Keeping their specific ministries accountable to the mission. The staff is responsible for management.

  23. Ministry • Fulfill the mission (make disciples of Jesus), by • Embodying the vision (with specific neighbors through an intentional process), who are • Transforming the world. The congregation (in ministry teams) is responsible for ministry.
