Reaching the Unreached . Introduction. Who? . Presupposition that missions should flow form the church. IMB, NAMB, and other para church groups exist to support the church in her efforts to take the gospel to the nations. There should be a good symbiotic relationship in these efforts .

  3. Who? • Presupposition that missions should flow form the church. • IMB, NAMB, and other para church groups exist to support the church in her efforts to take the gospel to the nations. • There should be a good symbiotic relationship in these efforts . • Acts 13:1-3

  4. Why ? Scripture

Why? • Gen 12:1-4 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you; 2 And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; 3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” .

  6. Why? • 1 Chron. 16:24 Declare his glory among the nations, (Goyim) his marvelous works among all the peoples! (am) Psalm 22:27 Allthe ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and allthe families of the nations shall worship before you.

  7. Why ? • Malachi 1:11 • For from the rising of the sun to its setting my namewill be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

  8. Why? • Matt. 28:19 • Go therefore andmake disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.. • Nations = Ethne or ethnos

  9. Why? • Romans 15:20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named,lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21 but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”

  10. Why? • Revelation 5:9 And they sanga new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for Godfrom every tribe ( Phule) and language ( Glossa) and people ( laos) and nation ( ethnos) ,”

  11. Why? • Revelation 7:9 “After this I looked, and behold,a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands”

  12. Why? • Matt 24:14 • And this gospel of the kingdomwill be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

  14. Practical Why’s • 6400+ People groups who can walk for days and weeks and find no one to tell them about Jesus in their heart language. • 4 Billion people cannot read a bible if they had one. • Many are in languages that are not written and yet to even have a written bible.

  15. Practical Why’s South Asia • 8 Countries • 1.3 Billion people • 1444 people groups • 1133 people groups are unreached • 658 Unengaged

  16. Southeast Asia • 550 Million people • 12 countries • 1525 people groups • 606 unreached • Unengaged 255

What Are Churches Doing? • About 100 Churches deeply engaged in reaching unreached UPG’s in SBC life. • Eighty percent of the world's evangelical wealth is in North America. • This total represents way more than enough to fund the fulfillment of the Great Commission. • There are approximately 600 evangelical churches worldwide than for every 1 UPG.

What Are Churches Doing? • “Unfortunately, North American missions organizations tend to target population groups in already-evangelized countries, where converts come more quickly and easily. • "96 percent of all foreign missionaries work among existing churches; • only 4 percent work where no church exists.” • "40 percent of the church's entire foreign mission resources are being deployed to just 10 oversaturated countries already possessing strong citizen-run home ministries."22 Thus, it is not that we lack the resources to evangelize the unreached but that we fail to make it a priority. “

  19. What Are Churches Doing ? How many Christians to send one missionary?

  21. #1 : Which People Group • Identify a UPG. • People in your area who are coming to America from a certain UPG? • A missionary from your church that is working with a UPG. • A special skill within the people of your church: • Business • Agriculture • Medical • Sports • Language • God simply pressed it upon your heart.

  22. #2 : Which Missionary? • The right missionary is crucial • Has to have the same theology. • Has the idea that the church is a major player in the work ( VS simply a funder of the work) • Is willing to allow your church to work with him. • Note: Your church must do a lot of things to get to this point. • Learn strategy • Develop trust by coming back and sticking with it. • Not make this a one trip a year thing. • Place money in the budget to help the work overseas. • Take care of the missionaries.

  23. #3 : Train Our People • The Scriptural Mandate. • Help them to see how clear this is in the scripture. • Strategy: • Strategies of reaching UPG’s is not what we use here. • Oral Strategies VS Literate Strategies • Buildings, are they effective? • Ministering to Kids in Islam is not good. In America it is great! • Needs of the witnesser VS needs of the lost strategy. • Somalia war lord video
