  4. Mission & Vision Statements Mission: To Promote Patriotism, Public Service,Integrity, and an Appreciation of America’s Freedoms. Vision: To encourage an informed patriotism and to be nationally recognized as the premier organization promoting patriotism in schools and with youth groups, through personal contact and interactive multimedia programs.

  5. Veterans Inspiring Patriotism • Free to the Schools • Lasts 30-60 minutes • Free Classroom Materials • Appropriate for all ages

  6. Scholarships • Offer scholarships for students through essay contests connected to patriotic holidays • Open to all 9–12th grade students • Winners awarded $5,000 • Check website for topics and deadlines

  9. Elementary School DVD Topics Covered: • Public Service, Patriotism, and Community Service • Freedom related to The Constitution and Bill of Rights • Founding Fathers • Declaration of Independence

  10. Jr & High School DVD Topics Covered: • Biography of Joe Foss • Salute to Patriots • Patriotism • Freedom is not free

  11. Prepared Remarks • Discuss your commitment to protect our freedoms. Be prepared to answer this question: Why did you serve our country and what did it mean to you? • Focus on the Constitution & Bill of Rights, Freedoms & Opportunity • Freedom is protected by military & civilian leaders - Why did you take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution? • Share personal content such as stories and artifacts (medals, uniforms, etc)

  12. Q & A Session • The last 10 to 15 minutes • Repeat questions asked to you, so all students can hear • Not all answers are appropriate for all age groups • If a question is inappropriate, provide general answers, change the subject, or ask students to stay after
