  2. His life • He was born June, 21 1859 • moms name was Sarah miller Tanner. • His dads name was Benjamin Tucker. • His dad was African American. • His mom was half white.

  3. He was the oldest in 9 children. • He started paint at age 13. • Never gave up in his dreams of becoming painter. • Traveled from Spain to America • Hated the the paintings that insulted his race.

  4. Pittsburgh Philadelphia • It had 939 factories. • It produced only 12 $ in goods. • In 1860 there was 49,221 people. • It was called the steel city. • A lot of German immigrants coming in. • Pittsburgh has 446 bridges.

  12. Harlem Renaissance • it was knowed as “The New Negro” • And later the Harlem renaissance. • It was challenging for whites and racism. • It also involved urban migration. • When their Literature and arts were taking • Seriously by people.

  13. It began in Manhattan, New York. • In a neighborhood of Harlem. • They came together to have fun. • And celebrate their heritage and culture. • Gave them hope, to continue on. • They showed people about their art.

  16. When and were he died? • He died on may 25, 1937. • Buried in Paris, France.

  17. Civil rights • Rosa parks was involve in it • When Rosa parks sat on the chair • And didn't move • Also martin Luther king • This was to help African Americans • To not be segregated.

  18. It helped people be independent • To seat were ever they felt like. • They gave speeches about the problems • In there communities • And also helped for them to have rights. • Henry helped in the red cross
