The Planetary Olympics aims to revolutionize sports exhibitions by combining sports science with innovative environmental simulations inspired by our solar system. Visitors will engage with interactive exhibits that showcase how various environmental conditions can influence sports performance. Each planet will represent a unique sport, allowing visitors to learn about human physiology, physics of equipment, and environmental impacts through fun, hands-on experiences. This exhibition targets audiences of all ages, promoting appreciation for the science of sports while providing an engaging journey of exploration and self-discovery.

Planetary OlympicsOverview The Impetus The Idea The Aims
Impetus for Innovation • The Problem: OSC lacks a modern, entertaining, and interactive Sports Exhibition • The Challenge to OSCSS: To design and create an innovative and fun exhibit enlightening the public on an aspect of sports science to contribute to a new Sports Exhibition • The Wonderer Proposal: Simulate sporting under various environmental conditions, to be inspired by solar planets
Sporting on Outer Worlds: The Concept • Many aspects of sport playing (e.g. human physiology, the physics of equipments) are influenced by environmental conditions • Exhibits isolate environmental conditions and respective sporting aspects to demonstrate effect, using normal conditions on Earth as control • Make use of other planets as host locales on which these environmental conditions are manifested, infeasibility of life disregarded • Each solar planet is associated with a sport on which it exerts relevant and interesting effects, which are simulated through combination of interaction and displays
Goals • Target audience: there is something to be learnt for and played by everyone! • Instill appreciation for the mechanics of sports in terms of their relationship with the environment (i.e. the science involved) • Inform visitors on surface conditions of solar planets (i.e. outer celestial bodies) through fun simulations in context • Provide a challenging and engaging learning experience for visitors, guiding them through exploration towards self-discovery
