My Parents Professions • My dad is paramedic for the British Columbia Ambulance Service (B.C.A.S.). He starts at 7am and ends at 6pm. He has worked for them for 7 years. My dad went to the University of Alberta. • My mom is an esthetician. She works from Tuesday-Saturday. From Tuesday-Friday she usually works from 10am-7pm on Saturdays 10am-4pm.
Where I Live • The city I live in is Coquitlam. • The province is British Columbia. • There are 13 provinces and territories in Canada. • The continent that I live in is North America. There are 7 continents.
Things Around the World • National means the country that you are in. For example Canada day. International means out of the country that you are in. For example flying to Italy is an international flight. • The Prime Minister of Canada is Stephen Harper. • The president of the United States is Barack Obama. • There are 8 planets in the solar system Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
My Cultural Heritage • My cultural heritage is Canadian, East African. My mom and dad are both from East Africa.
Character Questions • If I found $300 dollars on the ground I would return it to the police because if I dropped $300 I would want somebody to do the same. • If there was only one seat on the bus left and me and an old lady were on the bus I would let the old lady have the seat because she would probably need it more then me. • I think a responsible person is someone that can be trusted to be by themselves and follows the rules. A responsible person should always do things to the best of there abilities.
Mr.R’s Random Questions!!! • The difference between fact and opinion, is that an opinion is something that you think and a fact is something that you know. For example you may think that it is cold outside and somebody else may not. An example of a fact is, it is 23’c outside. • I don’t think that there is such thing as right or wrong, unless it is factual. For example you may think that throwing a banana in dirt would be the right thing to do for compost but someone else might think that it is littering.
Current Issues Taking Place Around the World • Poverty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQYm5LNTzvg People are living on less then $2.50 each day. There are over 1.9 billion people living in poverty. I think that we have to help these people by donating to charity. • Financial Crisis in Greece - This financial crisis was caused because the government failed to pay back their debt. This is called a Sovereign debt. They were in debt because they spent a lot of money and borrowed money. the countries deficit ( how much money they made to compared to how much they owe) is -12.7%. • Civil war in Sudan - their is a civil war taking place in Sudan because a peace agreement that was made in 2005 by the national congress party and the Sudan's Peoples Liberation Movement was not implemented.
Qualities and Characteristics • I like that I am caring, make friends easily, and have a good sense of humour. • I don't like that I can be lazy, procrastinate, and be to talkative.
Languages • I speak 2 languages English and Sarcasm
Things About Canada • It has two national sports. Hockey and lacrosse. • It has 13 provinces and territories. • It is part of North America. • There is plenty of forestry. • In Canada it snows in every province and territory.
Customs and Traditions • I call my grandma Ma, and my grandpa Bapa. • We celebrate the new moon every month by going to mosque. We do this because it represents the 1st day of the month. • We eat a traditional food sometimes with beef, rice, and potatoes. • We celebrate something called night of angels by going to mosque all night.
