Taekwondo. History. -founded in South Korea. -dates back to ancient times . -is a self-defense martial art officially created on the 11 th of April, 1955 by General Choi Hong Hi . Goal. -the goal to taekwondo is to maintain perseverance and to maintain an indomitable spirit.

  2. History -founded in South Korea -dates back to ancient times -is a self-defense martial art officially created on the 11th of April, 1955 by General Choi Hong Hi

Goal -the goal to taekwondo is to maintain perseverance and to maintain an indomitable spirit -in addition to this, students will be tested by the master or instructor of the kwon (class) in order to progress in their training -if students pass the test, they will receive a coloured belt; this starts with the white belt all the way up to the 9th dan (degree) black belt

  4. Olympic Sparring -made its first appearance in the 1988 summer games as a demonstration sport -photo used to identify taekwondo -two competitors from each gender (four athletes from each country) are able to be submitted into the Olympics' competition

  5. Taekwondo Schedule Fighters are split up into categories according to their weight Women under 49 kilograms: Eight of August Women under 57 kilograms: Ninth of August Women under 67 kilograms: Tenth of August Women above 67 kilograms: Eleventh of August Men under 58 kilograms: Eighth of August Men under 68 kilograms: Ninth of August Men under 80 kilograms: Tenth of August Men above 80 kilograms: Eleventh of August
