Democrats nominate FDR in 1932 • Won 42 states in a landslide victory • FDR known for impact on American life • New Deal product of his astute political skills and personality • Only president to be elected 4 times • Developed advisers known as “Brain Trust” to bring America out of the depression

  4. FDR called for a 4 day bank holiday • Allowed for banks to shore up country’s failing banking system • Started a series of fireside chats • Congress passed Emergency Banking Act to give president powers of banking transactions
