  1. Ohio Association for the Healthcare Environment Welcome! January 5, 2011

Why OAHE? • OAHE exists to promote better patient care through improved housekeeping practices by encouraging and assisting members to develop their knowledge of health care housekeeping principles. • OAHE will achieve this by conducting regular meetings, conferences and educational programs; promoting communication between OAHE, the Ohio Hospital Association and related organizations and by promoting the professional development and recognition of the Association and its members.

  3. What Is The Purpose of forming a state association? • To provide a medium for the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information that pertains to environmental services and housekeeping. • To assist environmental services and housekeeping professionals in keeping current on guidelines, regulations policies & procedures, etc. • To encourage and assist members develop their knowledge and increase effectiveness in their department. • To actively promote close cooperation and problem-solving among environmental service professionals and other health care departments. • To conduct regular meetings and educational programs for the benefit of all members.

  4. Not-for-Profit Organization • Intention would be to register with the State of Ohio as a non-profit organization • Necessary forms have been secured. • Steering Committee necessary in absence of officers/board.

  5. Discussion of Association By-Laws • Modeled after the national association by-laws • If adopted, will provide greater opportunity for affiliation with AHE (formerly ASHES). • Available to review and make suggestions for a February vote?

  6. Discussion of Association Officers • Recommended Officers: • President • President-Elect • Secretary • Treasurer

  7. Discussion of Board of Directors Recommendations: • Board would consist of the 4 Association Officers plus: • 2 representatives from Acute Care (1 with 2 year term; 1 with 3 year term) • 2 representatives from Long Term Care (1 with 2 year term; 1 with 3 year term) • 1 Platinum Level Vendor – Partner representative (2 year term) • Geographical representation??

  8. Personal Membership Levels • Full Member • Associate/Corporate Member • Retired/Student/Transitional Member • General Interest Member • Annual Dues vary depending on type of membership

  9. Vendor-Partner Sponsor Levels • Platinum Club Level - $1500/Annually • Gold Club Level - $1000/Annually • Silver Club Level - $750/Annually

  10. Others • Monthly Meetings • Standing Committees • Nominations Committee • Educational Committee • Annual Conference Committee • New Media Committee (Marketing, Website, etc) • Any others?

  11. Annual Conference/Trade Show • To be held in Spring or Fall • To be rotated around the state • Conference to be 2 days? • 1 ½ day for conference? • ½ day for Trade Show?

  12. Affiliation • Affiliation with the Association for the Healthcare Environment (formerly ASHES) • Affiliation with IEHA?
