Purpose of three of the tools Select a rectangular area Experiment — what do each of the others do? Add text to the image Draw a rectangle (If you do not see the toolbox, give the Windows > Tools command).
Experiment Play around. You can undo any changes you make in the History window. ———— Ctrl-z undoes the last command. Ctrl-y redoes the last command. (If you do not see the history window, give the Windows > History command).
The status line: describes the selected tool For example: status line for the Rectangular Selection tool: Cursor location (0, 0 is the upper left hand corner) Tool description with a help hint Image size Tip: watch the status line as you work
The status line changes as you work Status line while making a selection: These change as you make the selection. You can adjust selections one pixel at a time using the arrow keys.
Rotate an image Image > Rotate
View menu Changing the view does not alter the image, just what you see while working on it.
Adjusting contrast Adjustments > Brightness/contrast
Apply the ink sketch effect Effects > Artistic > Ink sketch
Resize an image Image > Resize If you check Maintain aspect ratio, changing either the width or height automatically adjusts the other.
Resizing without maintaining the aspect ratio will distort the image
