  2. There are many different types of invertebrates and we classify them into groups. The main groups of invertebrates are: Arthropods Other invertebrates Molluscs Insects Gastropods Worms Arachnids Bivalves Echinoderms Jellyfish Crustaceans Cephalopods Sponges Myriapods

  3. jointed legs.

  4. arms. and slugs.

  5. Have spiny skin Radial symmetry . For example starfish

  6. Let’s check some examples.

  7. Arthropods

  8. Arthropods

  9. Arthropods Insects Ants jointed legs. Grasshoppers

  10. Honey bees Arthropods Insects jointed legs. Beetles

  11. Praying mantises Arthropods Mosquitoes Insects jointed legs.

  12. Arthropods Dragonflies Butterflies Insects jointed legs.

  13. Arthropods Pond Skaters Insects jointed legs. Ladybirds

  14. Arthropods Arachnids Spiders jointed legs.

  15. Arthropods Scorpions Arachnids jointed legs.

  16. Arthropods are also arachnids Ticks and mites Dog tick Arachnids jointed legs. A large dust mitemeasures around 0.3 millimeters in size, so it is impossible to see it with the naked eye.

  17. Arthropods Crabs Crustaceans jointed legs.

  18. Arthropods Lobsters Crustaceans jointed legs.

  19. Arthropods Shrimps/ prawns Crustaceans jointed legs.

  26. Molluscs Squids Cephalopods arms. Siphon:Propels the squid (water enters mantle cavity and exits through siphon)

  27. Molluscs Cuttlefish Cephalopods arms.

  28. Molluscs Octopus Blue-ringed octopus (click here to learn more) 8 arms Cephalopods arms.

  29. Other invertebrates

  30. Earthworms Worms

  31. Sea cucumbers Sea urchins Echinoderms • Have spiny skin. • Have radial symmetry. • For example starfish. Starfish

  32. Jellyfish

  33. Sponges

  34. Animals: estimated 3-30 million species How many Species of animals are there? Invertebrates: 97% of all known species Sponges: 10,000 species Cnidarians: 8,000-9,000 species Mollusks: 100,000 species Echinoderms: 6,000 species |Annelids: 12,000 species Arthropods: Crustaceans: 40,000 species Insects: 2-30 million species !! | Arachnids: 75,500 species Vertebrates: 3% of all known species Reptiles: 7,984 species Amphibians: 5,400 species Birds: 9,000-10,000 species Mammals: 4,475-5,000 species Ray-Fish: 23,500 species Of all invertebrates, the insects are by far the most numerous. Scientists have identified about 925,000species of insects. It is estimated that there are between 2 million and 30 million species of insects on Earth.
