  3. 1. Know Test Series Determine which Praxis tests you’ll need to take, and where you can take them. Each state sets its own testing requirements, so be sure to check for each state you plan to become certified. Praxis Test divided into two parts one is Praxis I and another is the Praxis II. The Praxis I is used for licensure as well as to qualify candidates for entry into a teacher education program. The Praxis I tests measure basic skills and are divided into three separate exams: Praxis Mathematics, Praxis Reading and Praxis Writing. Praxis I exams are mostly multiple choice with an essay in the writing test, and are offered in both electronic and paper versions. Another hand, the Praxis II assesses a teaching candidate’s general skills and specific subject area knowledge. The different Praxis II exams fall into three categories based on what they measure. There three category are Subject Assessments, Principles of Learning Tests and Teaching Foundations Tests. www.teachingsolutions.org

  4. 2. Upto date about Exam Guideline and Format This is most important that you should be familiar with the format and content of the exam. You should be familiar with the details of each section, including time allotted, question type, scoring and more. Knowing the structure of the test will not only help you develop a better strategy but also make you feel confident to pass exam. You can make this effective by reading guideline and checking format. Even you can keep Xerox of guideline with you while studying/preparing for the exam. www.teachingsolutions.org

  5. 3. Give priority to weakest subject As we know Praxis exam is having multiple subjects so you should put more efforts on mastering the sections you are weakest at while you’re studying. It is compulsory to pass each section of the exam, so acing one and flunking another in hopes of the scores balancing out is not an option. By doing this you will not only remove your weaknesses but also you will be better able to handle the test as a whole. You can also test this practice on the element of Praxis Exam; mathematics, reading and writing. If you are expert in mathematics then you can concentrate more on reading and writing part or if you are expert in reading then you can go deeply with mathematics and writing part. www.teachingsolutions.org

  6. 4. Enhance your time management throughout Many individuals have not learned how to rate themselves while preparing for an examination. Because more students will pick a date and assume that studying for a random allotment of time each day leading up to it will be sufficient. When they realize they are running out of time, they may panic and skip over some lesion without preparing. An aspirant should gather all of study materials and make a schedule for specific blocks of subject to study and make sure that each subject covers at schedule time. This strategy will ensure that you are scheduling the test according to your studying progress. www.teachingsolutions.org

  7. 5. Take advantage of Practice Guide and Study Materials Obtaining and organizing your best study materials are critical steps in preparing for the Praxis tests. Most practice tests and study materials for the Praxis I are overly-simplistic and not close to the difficulty of the real examination. Some even have incorrect answer keys. Some Praxis I practice questions are WITHOUT full answer explanations…which is the only way to learn from the questions you got wrong and get a passing score. Consider the following references questions before buying any practice guide: 1. Do you guess what content and questions you’ll face on your upcoming testing date? Have you decided to study for the Praxis I exam by ‘trial and error,’ take the test 2-3 times…eventually learn to pass after taking it so many times?  www.teachingsolutions.org

  8. 5. Take advantage of Practice Guide and Study Materials 2. Are you losing critical time trying memorizing painfully dry, 300 pages Praxis I study books? You know, it’s impossible to swallow 300-400 pages textbook-like Praxis I practice guides in the short time you have between now and your exam date.  3. Feel trapped in ‘information overload?’  www.teachingsolutions.org

  9. 6. Spread out the sections Unlike many standardized tests, students are able to take the different sections of the Praxis exam separately. If you’re able to do this without missing any deadlines or putting too much more strain on yourself, consider taking the sections on different days. By doing this, you will be focus more on studying and test-taking efforts on one topic at a time. Logically, being able to concentrate on one section will help you excel at it before moving on to the next subject and test question type. www.teachingsolutions.org

  10. 7. Practice explaining the key concepts Try to understand concept instead of remembering whole things. This practice will lead you to cover more topics and lesion. For instance, if you’re practicing Praxis II then you need to explain the concepts and processes to students in a clear, understandable way. What are the major concepts you will be required to teach? Can you explain them in your own words accurately, completely and clearly? Practice explaining these concepts to test your ability to effectively explain what you know. www.teachingsolutions.org

  11. 8. Understand how questions will be scored How to interpret Praxis questions so you'll know exactly what answer they're looking for, instead of wasting time wracking your brain trying to figure it out. Knowing the criteria of questions, type of questions will give you high score in Praxis Exam. This can be done by checking previous year questions paper, consulting with test holder and test consultants. Do practice on best competitive on questions and solve as many as possible. www.teachingsolutions.org

  12. 9. Test Yourself Some test aspirant becomes overly nervous, causing them to forget content, guess wildly, or lose concentration. Individuals who have high levels of test anxiety might benefit from taking a test prep course to prepare for the actual testing situation and/or completing timed practice tests. To overcome from this situation you can take as many as test at home and check improvement each time. www.teachingsolutions.org

  13. 10. Discuss with test holder or test consultants Yes, consulting with test holder, Praxis Test Instructor will help you to find out the best way to pass the exam. You can engage with them by asking more and more questions and by asking them to check your test. Read more about Praxis Practice Test Guide by Teaching Solutions www.teachingsolutions.org
