  3. Compound Sentence • Two independent clauses linked by a comma or a coordinating conjunction • Example: • I saw the movie, but I didn’t like it. • Sally went shopping, then she came home.

  4. Complex Sentence • One independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. • Example: • After we went to the game, we had dinner. • While I was walking down the street, I saw a dog.

  5. Compound/Complex Sentence • Two independent clauses with a dependent clause • After we went to the game, we went to dinner, but the food was awful.

  6. Copy Marks • Editing symbols to bring attention to possible emendations • Word level • Transposition • Misspellings • Some sentence level • Punctuation • Subject verb agreement

  7. Style Sheet • Lists changes in a document based on a style guide • Queries author on points of confusion • Makes editorial judgments for consistency • Checks facts • Document specific • PITA
