  2. BACKGROUND Which NBA conference can boast the most accurate players - Eastern or Western? This study explores that question by performing a systematic test to determine whether there is a distinguishable, statistical difference between field goal percentage for the two conferences.

  3. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: • Sixteen players were randomly selected : • Eight players from Western Conference • Eight players from Easter Conference • Samples are independent of each other • Each of the two populations follows a normal distribution • Each players field goal percentage for three seasons, 2008, 2009 ,2010 were collected.

  6. CONCLUSION: With a 95% confidence interval of (-0.0559, 0.1170) which includes zero, this suggest that there is no statistical difference. The test statistic is 0.71, with p- value of 0.479. Since the p-value is greater than the alpha value, there is no evidence that the average field goal percentage for the western conference is significantly different then the average field goal percentage for the eastern conference.
