(ICT) industry in Sri Lanka • Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have come to play a central role in development strategies — from food production through health delivery to education and the media. • The Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Sri Lanka is on its way to grow at twice the rate than at present and has great potential to contribute to the socio economic development of the country. 

  2. Electronic commerce • Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. The amount of trade conducted electronically has grown extraordinarily with widespread Internet usage.

  3. models of E Commerce • E Commerce is one of the popular aspects of spreading business on a large scale. Online media is used as a platform to carry out business transactions. For an e-commerce site proper e-commerce web development is required. • A company can carry out E commerce projects based on 5 different models :-

  4. Business-to-Business (B2B) • Business-to-Business (B2B) is one of the major forms of e commerce. Here the seller and the buyer participate as business entities. Here the business is carried out the same way a manufacturer supplies goods to a wholesaler.

  5. B2B stands for Business to Business. B2B e-commerce is the most cost effective way for sellers to reach buyers around the globe. Benefits from b2b websites: • - Promote your businesses online. - Import and export products. - Find buyers and suppliers. - Post trade leads.

  6. B2C (Business-to-Consumer) • B2C (Business-to-Consumer)Businesses selling to the general public typically through catalogs utilizing shopping cart software. By dollar volume, B2B takes the prize, however B2C is really what the average Joe has in mind with regards to ecommerce as a whole. • Having a hard time finding a book? Need to purchase a custom, high-end computer system? How about a first class, all-inclusive trip to a tropical island? With the advent ecommerce, all three things can be purchased literally in minutes without human interaction. Oh how far we've come!

  7. C2B (Consumer-to-Business) • C2B (Consumer-to-Business)A consumer posts his project with a set budget online and within hours companies review the consumer's requirements and bid on the project. C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer) • C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer)There are many sites offering free classifieds, auctions, and forums where individuals can buy and sell thanks to online payment systems like PayPal where people can send and receive money online with ease. eBay's auction service is a great example of where person-to-person transactions take place everyday since 1995.
