UPD Mission Statement The Mission of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Police Department is to provide a safe campus that is conducive to a learning, living, teaching, and working environment by providing quality police service and a secure campus for all students and the University community
The Team UPD has 14 state certified Police Officers, 4 Tele-communications Operators, and 1 office manager. The department maintains a field operations section that performs the following duties: Patrol, Community Affairs, Special Services, and Criminal Investigations. The department’s Emergency Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Field Operations Field Operations: Functions as the response and tactical division for the department. These uniformed, state certified and licensed police officers are the most publicly visible representatives of the department and are dispatched by the department’s police communications unit by radio to all calls for service or assistance. Field Operations personnel are responsible for: PATROL COMMUNITY AFFAIRS SPECIAL SERVICES
Field Operations PATROL: - The primary responsibility of Patrol is to remain visible in order to prevent crime, preserve the peace, and protect life and property by enforcing Texas state laws, and the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Rules & Regulations.
Field Operations COMMUNITY AFFAIRS Community Affairs is an effort that establishes a partnership between students and the police department. It is through these partnerships that the police and university community share the responsibility for identifying, reducing, eliminating, and preventing crime and problems that impact campus safety and public peace. Field Operations COMMUNITY AFFAIRS Campus Watch Is a partnership between students and UPD to better promote crime prevention within our campus.
Field Operations Operation I.D. Is nationally recognized by law enforcement as a citizen’s burglary prevention program for use in the home or business. This program has existed for 30 years. Operation ID allows law enforcement to detect, identify, and return stolen or lost property to its rightful owners. Operation ID involves making or engraving property with an identifying number and displaying a window decal to discourage burglary and theft. The ideal number is your state issued Driver’s License number which is easily recognized and traced by law enforcement.
RAD What is RAD? The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progression on to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD classes are offered at no charge to university students, faculty, and staff.

Emergency Communications Communications The Communications Division is the vital link between police officers, citizens, emergency medical services, fire department, public safety responders, and state/national law enforcement agencies. Often they are the first line of communications between the community and the police. Trained and qualified dispatchers provide information to police officers and the community that is essential to campus safety.
