  1. MUST HAVES • Full integration with NewSouth Student including portal services and other web-based systems such as eLearning • Robust, transparent and appropriate quality control and assurance measures • Equitable Admission standards not dissimilar to those applying at other campuses; articulation with Polytechnics [and equivalent] in the SE Asian region • Appropriate recruitment strategies – to include tracking, monitoring and research • Integration of Foundation Studies year record with award studies – One Student Number, One UniPass, One record, One ID card

  2. MUST HAVES • Rule Based Processing • On-line academic advising and academic planning • A centralised campus timetable • Student support in-person, by the web, and self-help options. Customer service delivered within an appropriate cultural framework • Requirements of students with disabilities taken into account to ensure access to the physical, virtual and teaching environment • Accommodation options for available for all students including other UNSW students undertaking a semester at UNSW Asia • Centrally located student precinct • One UNSW Asia prospectus / handbook / student guide – some or all loaded onto laptop or palm pilot

  3. MUST NOT HAVES • Complex Program Rules • Barriers that inhibit the movement of students between UNSW Asia and UNSW’s other campuses • A negative sense of difference • Anything which upsets AUQA, ICAC or their Singaporean equivalents • A mish-mash of central and devolved services

  4. ASSUMPTIONS • Academic and administrative structures will enhance and support the student experience • All UNSW policies pertaining to academic administration will apply equally to Singapore campus • All UNSW Asia applicants will use the Apply Online and myUNSW portal to accept an offer and enrol • All UNSW students will have access to grievance resolution procedures • All UNSW Students will have access to counselling and other welfare services • All UNSW students will have access to anti-discrimination and anti-harassment procedures • Not all services will be required at the same time so a staggered phase-in will be possible • Services to be provided on a student-centred model and will incorporate student and academic services

  5. TIMELINE • Admission processing must be functional by 1 January 2006 • Student Services Project Officer and staff [based at Kensington] appointed by 1 June 2005 • Director of Student Services, UNSW Asia [based in Singapore] appointed by 1 January 2006

  6. ADMISSION SET-UP • Programs approved • Prospectus written, printed and distributed • Apply Online modifications • Payments in Singapore $ • Campus Identity code • Security issues • Badging/image of correspondence • Visa requirements for non-Singaporeans • Online Handbook
