  5. COACHING CERTIFICATION • ALL COACHES HIRED AFTER September 1, 2006 will have one year to complete the following requirements: 1. Teaching or Substitute Certificate 2. Finger Prints 3. NFHS coaching course – (TBA) 4. First Aid course - (NFHSlearn.org) 5. Concussion course – (NFHSlearn.org) FREE 6. CPR – (TBA) 7. A Guide to Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention • course – (NFHSlearn.org) FREE

  6. COACHING CERTIFICATION • ALL COACHES (regardless of your hire date) must have the following: • Teaching or Substitute Certificate • Finger Prints • Concussion course – (NFHSlearn.org) FREE • CPR – (TBA) • Heat Acclimatization course – (NFHSlearn.org) FREE

  7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS • Physician Release – Notify Mr. Grande for approval • Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention • Drugs & Alcohol & Tobacco – Remind your athletes • CONCUSSION LAW

  8. COACHING RESPONSIBILITY • TRYOUTS/TEAM SELECTION – NO CUT LISTS ARE TO BE POSTED! – ALL PARENTS ARE TO BE CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THEIR CHILD’S STATUS WITH THE TEAM. • DAILY ATTENDANCE IS TO BE KEPT.

  10. SUPERVISION & SECURITY • Coaches are the first in the locker rooms & the last to leave the locker room. • At NO time should coaches give their keys to an athlete to come into the building. Bathrooms are located outside and the trainer will assist any athlete with any injury. • At NO time should any doors be left propped open. • Locker rooms are to be cleaned and equipment should not be left out daily. (Its your responsibility to ensure all equipment is put away.) • There should always be a coach behind to clear the building after practice. (BE VISIBLE) • Building security is not here to watch your athletes. Have a plan in place for your athletes at all times for supervision. • All coaches are to notify Dr. Cancalosi to be excused from any supervision duties.

  11. TRANSPORTATION • Coaches are not to drive their own vehicles to or from events, without prior approval from Dr. Cancalosi. • Only School personnel on the bus. (Coaches & athletes). • If the driver has a guest on the bus you are to notify me when you return. • Be sure to get the bus driver’s information before each trip. • Middle School directional packets are on the website under MS Athletics. • All buses will pick-up and drop off teams at the athletic entrance. • AT NO TIME IS A STUDENT/ATHLETE TO BE RELEASED WITHOUT AN APPROVED TRAVEL RELEASE FORM, BY Dr. Cancalosi.

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS • Key Inventory – All assistant coaches are to hand in their keys at the end of the season. • Swipe card activation will be updated for the M.S. prior to the season and deactivated at the conclusion of the season. • Coaches are to contact me early in the day regarding class coverage for an athletic event or any athletic business. • Media Day: M.S. September 20, 2012 @ 3:30pm. MS Gym. • Mini- Clinics

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS (continued) • Game Reports – Are due electronically the morning after each regular season game (Follow saving instructions provided) • Team Awards Ceremony – Each team is to have a ceremony before, but no later than 4 weeks after, the end of the season to give out all athletic letters and team awards. (PARENTS ARE TO BE INVITED!) – (Food will be the responsibility of the coaches/student funds.)

  14. EVALUTIONS Every head coach will be evaluated by the athletic administrator, and will be held accountable for their program. Assistant coaches will be evaluated by their head coach with the collaboration of the athletic administrator. Each coach will be evaluated based on their teams’ behavior, academics, coaching philosophy and overall job performance. Every coaching action needs to be based on the very best interest of our student-athletes and not ourselves. Coaching positions are not guaranteed to you.

  15. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS • Failure to Return Equipment – No participation until paid or returned. • Radio - Picked up by coaches only • Availability – Utilize practice schedule to determine availability • First Aid Kits – to be at all games and practices • Ice – present at practice and games • Injury Reports – the responsibility of the coach and athletic trainer – (ALL INJURIES ARE TO BE REPORTED TO THE ATHLETIC TRAINER)
