Online Scheduling Timeline February 15th 8th Grade Class Meeting Program of Studies Booklets and Course Selection sheets distributed February 29rd 8th grade online scheduling in the Media Center March 1st – March 30th Individual meetings with students to discuss course selections  March 30th Course selection sheets, signed by a parent, due to Mrs. Petrosino

  3. Typical Freshmen Schedule • English 9 • World History • Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 or Geometry • Science: Physical Science or Biology • Language: French, Spanish or Chinese • Physical Education/ Health • 2 Periods of Electives • Lunch

  4. GR Graduation Requirements • Pass the NJ High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) • Earn 122.5 credits • Complete the following course of study: • 4 years of: • English, Math, History, Science, Physical Education/Health • 2 years of Foreign Language at the high school level • 0.5 year of Computer Science • 0.5 year of Financial and Economic Literacy • 10 credits of Fine, Visual and/or Performing arts • 10 credits of Career Education and/or Consumer, Family Life Education (which may be satisfied through alternative methods of infusion into other courses, course equivalents, or a career education course)

  5. Waiver of Academic Placement • Students not recommended for Honors courses must meet the following minimum standard of achievement in order to waive into those courses: • Students currently enrolled in… Honors Course in the subject area: C+ College Prep Course in the subject area: B+

  6. Add/Drop Policy • On occasion students enroll in a course and later decide to drop the course and/or add another course. Ability to add courses is determined by the number of available seats in each class. • Grade Policy: After Week 5 there will be an official withdrawal on the report card (WP or WF) • If a student enrolls in a similar course the following process will be implemented: • Completion of 0-2 Weeks:No grades will be carried over to the new class.  Students should be given sufficient time to make up missed assessments. • Completion of 3 – 8 Weeks:Students’ grades will be transferred into new class.  The grade in the course they are withdrawing • Completion of 9-11 Weeks:The student’s grade from the dropped class will be the grade for the marking period in the added class.  The student will take any remaining assessments in the added class in order for the teacher to assess their current understanding of the material.  • Students dropping an AP or Honors course and enrolling in a college prep course will have their average weighted when their grades are transferred.

  15. Glen Ridge High School Athletics Important Information and Dates • Mid-May: Fall Sport Sign Ups. Announcements will be made on GRTV for signups. The date, time & team room location will be announced. Also, flyers will be posted throughout school regarding signups. At signups, student-athletes will get a registration packet. • July 16th: All physicals must be turned into the GRHS health office to ensure student participation on the opening day of practice.All students must have a physical completed by their private physician. Free physicals will be made available by the school physician for those students who do not have a medical home. • August 13th: Official start of football practice per NJSIAA rules. • September 6th : Official start of the regular season for all sports. • October: Winter Sport Sign Ups • Early November: All registration information due. Practices begin the first Monday after the day after Thanksgiving except for Ice Hockey and swimming • Middle of January: Spring Sport Sign Ups • Early February: Registration packet due. • 1st Friday in March: Official start of spring practice per NJSIAA rules. • April 1st: Start of the Spring Regular Season.
