This lesson explores the significant effects of the 9/11 attacks on American civil liberties through a silent debate format. Students will engage in discussions around essential debate questions, such as the purpose and benefits of debate, and the importance of civil liberties. Two positions will be evaluated: one supporting enhanced airport security measures for safety, and another arguing against them citing the infringement of civil liberties. Through this exercise, students will critically analyze the balance between security and personal freedoms.
