Virtual Machine (VM) • A virtual machine is a tightly isolated software container that can run its own operating systems and applications as if it were a physical computer. • A virtual machine behaves exactly like a physical computer and contains it own virtual (ie, software-based) CPU, RAM hard disk and network interface card (NIC). • Benefits • In general, VMware virtual machines possess four key characteristics that benefit the user: • Compatibility: Virtual machines are compatible with all standard x86 computer • Isolation: Virtual machines are isolated from each other as if physically separated • Encapsulation: Virtual machines encapsulate a complete computing environment • Hardware independency: Virtual machines run independently of the underlying hardware
set virtul RAM not bigger than half of your real RAM about 15min. Starting the VM
user: embnet password: embnet2012 Starting the VM
Starting the VM Ubuntu Manual short description of the Virtual Machine
set up a new wired connection adding ONLY a name and save Setting up the VM In case you have no connectivity
Setting up the VM Connect your USB stick • Connect USB stick • unmount from host machine
Setting up the VM Get started for the Tutorial
