Regional Caritas Ústí nad Labem • founded in 2000, is nongovernmental no profitable organisation • belongs to Diocesan Caritas Litoměřice, is member of Caritas Czech Republic, Caritas Europa a Caritas Internationalis • carries on 4 facilities of social services: • Samaritan House – provides help to homeless people • Senior House of St. Ludmila – care for senior people above 65 y. • House Světluška – care for children and teenagers and support of their families in social excluded localities Family Centre Ovečka – parent centre, kindergarten • and teenagers 'club

4. Participation of Regional Caritas, ways of support and help: • participation in crisis meetings on the Municipality of Ústí nad Labem • establishment of 4 evacuation centres, provision of services there • establishment and operation of temporary humanitarian aid, clothes disinfectants, cleaning devices and toll distribution, free rent of drying machines • monitoring of flooded regions / areas • provision of financial support to affected households in direct cooperation with Dioceses Caritas Litoměřice and Deutsche Caritasverband which donated 500.000 Euros. 5. During the floods Regional Caritas • Ústí nad Labem provided: • Material help • food packages (dried soups, cookies, fruit, drinks…) • hygiene supplies (disposable soaps and shampoos, toilet paper, tissues…) • clothes • toys for children • sleeping bags, sleeping pads, duvets, matrasses • Psychosocial help • crisis intervention • activities for children • Personnel help • social workers • volunteers • help coordinators • drivers (2 cars) • Place • for people affected by the floods • Samaritan House – canteen/cafeteria, night shelter, shower • Family Centre Ovečka – playroom

7. 3 employees of Reginal Caritas Ústí nad Labem worked on in the terrain provided the subsequent help: • - monitored the needs of households affected by the floods • - distributed material help, especially disinfectants and cleaning devices • - ensured financial help – in Ústí nad Labem 62 households were supported, 2 530 000 CZK were handed out between affected families • - went on providing psychosocial help • - facilitated spiritual help Subsequent help

9. Establish close cooperation with the Regional Authority of the Ústí Region and Municipality od the town Ústí nad Labem and establish the partnership in extraordinary and emergency/crisis management. • Become the leader and coordinator of the Panel of humanitarian organisations whose the main task is to coordinate activities od nongovernmental organisations and volunteers in cooperation with public administration institutions and Fire Rescue Service. (Currently Panel of humanitarian organisations is led by the Volunteer Centre in Ústí nad Labem. However, Regional Caritas, belonging to one of the biggest nationwide humanitarian organisations, was asked to take the leadership over). • Establish and manage the stock of humanitarian help for Ústí region, from where the public administration institutions as well as the nongovernmental no profitable organisations would be serviced and supplied throughout the year in order to help people in crisis. 10. Representatives of governmental, contributory and nongovernmental no profitable organisations form the management team. • Meets 5x a year, in case of emergency events approx. 3x a week. • Provides the complex support and service to citizens in emergency situations. • Coordinates the activities of nongovernmental non profitable organisations and carries out the tasks of crisis headquarters • Current members of the Panel HO: The Volunteer Centre, Regional Caritas Ústí nad Labem, Spirála, People in Need, The Czech Red Cross, Medic and others.
