  2. What is a wiki? Means fast in Hawaiian. Wikis are a collaborative web-space where anyone can add content and anyone can edit content that has already been published. Wikis are used to accumulate knowledge & information. A wiki can be password protected.

  7. Why use a wiki for collaboration? Share important time sensitive documents, such as curricula, outlines, resource banks, article drafts, research abstracts, evaluation materials, web links, fact sheets, funding proposals, & photos. Saves the latest draft and the history of the work.

  8. How can a wiki save time, energy & money? Communicate based on your schedule Less paper? Save mailing costs Save travel costs

  9. Teamwork on the wiki A wiki is a place where anyone can edit documents at any time (Richardson, 2006). It is a place where members can visit a document, share thoughts, comments, edits, resources & reaction. The business world uses wikis when communicating on project development by taking advantage of the Internet’s speed and efficiency (Brown, Huettner, & James-Tanny, 2007).

  10. Teamwork on a wiki Editing is easy on a wiki. Instead of sending messages through email every team member is working on ‘the’ document, and bypasses cluttered messages, attachments, and time lags. There is no confusion where the latest draft or edited document is located when communicating through a wiki. (Richardson, 2006).

  11. Wiki in the community … …allow students/clients to work collaboratively …journal our work …encourages community to write and read! …allow students/clients to locate graphics, links, annotations, and reflections to written work

  12. 5 Tips to Take Home Wikis are commonly used on the Internet. A wiki is a collaborative web space. You can collaborate with colleagues or plan a family trip. Wikis can be private or public. If the wiki is private you will create a list of users. Wikis can be used to share resources, agendas, best practices and other information. Wikis are more efficient than using email to communicate with colleagues of friends.
