  1. How Proximity Reader Systems Work and Their Main Advantages Proximity Card Access System: Generally defined, proximity reader systems require either a key fob or access card in order to operate, provided it is in close proximity to the access device reader. This will then allow the gate or door to unlock, thereby granting entry for those individuals who are authorized. In terms of credentials for this specific type of system, they use only programmed, single-factor authentication. Furthermore, each credential device includes a personal identification number, with the access system able to be programmed to either limit or block entry at any time. A door will not be unlocked by a proximity reader system unless an individual has been provided with the proper access permissions via the programmed security application. Here are four of the main advantages of using proximity reader systems. *First and foremost, perhaps one of the biggest advantages of using proximity reader systems involves security. For a vast majority of businesses, being able to take advantage of extra security is more than enough in terms of outweighing the overall cost of investment in this type of system. Thanks to the option of either a key fob or access card, the expense of having to pre-key a property and reissue new keys to individuals whenever one ends up getting lost or stolen can be completely eliminated. *Another main advantage of using proximity reader systems involves all of the special features that are included with this type of system. For instance, access cards and key fobs can be completely customizable, such as being able to be used at vending machines, copy machines, lockers, supply closets, medical equipment rooms, and so much more depending on the specific type of business that you run, as well as the type of access that you wish to enable for specific employees. *Convenience is another main advantage when it comes to using proximity reader systems. This is because access cards and key fobs are designed to completely eliminate the requirement of needing multiple keys, thereby enabling employees to have access to many different areas that they need to get to in order to complete their work without having to worry about keeping track of a vast number of keys. Additionally, proximity credentials themselves are also fairly inexpensive and can also be easily replaced in the event that they somehow end up getting lost, stolen, or even worn out. All that will need to be done is to

  2. reprogram the access system itself, which will block out the old fob and grant access to the new one complete with a brand new key ID. *One other main advantage of using proximity reader systems involves access records. These specific types of systems are designed to automatically maintain a full record of who enters a building, as well as the exact time that they enter the building. This is information that can be extremely valuable in terms of keeping track of visitor data, as well as employee movement, employee attendance, and the presence of specific individuals in the event of some sort of an emergency.
