OPERATIONAL EOC & FIELD TESTING • EOC Assessments will be administered both online and via a paper-based administration. • HB 3, passed in 2009, authorizes TEA to collect data through the administration of EOCs in order to establish performance standards prior to the first high-stakes administrations in spring 2012. • VMA selected to participate in the following: • English I - April 6 & 7, 2011 - paper administration • Day 1 - Writing • Day 2 - Reading • Physics - May 11, 2011 - paper administration • Geometry - May 12, 2011 - online administration

ELIGIBILITY FOR EOC ASSESSMENTS • Online - maximum number of students required to test - 350 • Paper - all eligible students enrolled in the course are required to test • Special Education. - all students who take the TAKS • Oral administration is not available for the English I EOC • Oral administration is available for Geometry and Physics • Students with accommodations that would invalidate the assessment are not required to participate • ARD committees are not required to convene to determine test placement at this time • LEP - all students except first-year immigrants granted an exit level LEP postponement or LEP exemption from the 2011 spring TAKS

  4. EOC ENGLISH I RESULTS *There will be no “student results” because the passing standards have not been set. Districts will receive raw scores only, and not by individual student. *No performance results for students, campuses, districts, or the state will be provided for any EIC assessment.

Test Security and Confidentiality Requirements • TEC, Chapter 39, Subchapter B • EOC Assessments are secure including field tests. • 19 TAC 101 • ALL test materials must be handled in strict accordance with the instructions contained in the test administrator manual. • Each person with access to test materials must maintain and preserve the security and confidentiality of ALL tests. • Student information used or obtained in the administration of these assessments is confidential. • Each person with access to student information must maintain and preserve the confidentiality of this information. • A 2011 Oath of Test Security and Confidentiality for Test Administrators (General) has been signed and filed. All requirements apply.(active monitoring, range of penalties, obligation to report any suspected violations)

  6. Test Security and Confidentiality Requirements Continued UNAUTHORIZED VIEWING, DISCUSSION, DUPLICATION, OR SCORING OF SECURE TEST MATERIALS IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME.

EOC Testing Timeline • 3/30/11 - receive EOC Test Administration Directions Manual (sent through email on 3/23/11 for your review) • 3/31/11 - begin covering and/or removing ALL instructional displays in hallways and classrooms (classroom windows and doors must be cleared) • 4/1/11 - EOC Procedural Training(testing maps, duties, procedural requirements, testing rosters, seating charts, Administrative Specific Oath) • 4/4/11 - final administrative check of classrooms and hallways • 4/4-5/11 - notify students of their testing room • 4/6/11 - Day 1 - EOC Writing • 4/7/11 - Day 2 - EOC Reading

  9. 7:15 - 8:10 A.M. pick up testing material in the seminar room (next to library) 8:15 - 8:25 A.M. Students are reporting to testing rooms 8:25 - 8:40 A.M. Distribute snacks / restroom Pick up ALL backpacks / electronic devices “Help”, “Nurse”, “PRC” passes 8:40 A.M. Principal will address the students 8:50 A.M. Distribute testing material & begin testing directions 9:00 A.M. Tape roster outside door Count Form - place outside door @ 11:30 A.M., 12:00 P.M., 1:30 P.M., 2:00 P.M., and 2:20 P.M. 11:45 A.M. A & B PODs pick up material 11:55 A.M. A & B PODs sub/Relievers arrive NO testing material is to be left in the testing room Take testing material to POD Administrator’s Office for lock-up 12:00 - 12:35 P.M. A & B PODs Lunch in classrooms English I EOC Testing Proceduresfor Day 1 & Day 2

  10. 12:25 P.M. C & D PODs pick up material 12:35 P.M. C & D PODs sub/Relievers arrive NO testing material is to be left in the testing room Take testing material to POD Administrator’s Office for lock-up 12:40 - 1:15 P.M. C & D PODs Lunch in classrooms 2:30 P.M. Students still testing will be escorted to library Transfer form must be filled out (White copy stays with teacher, Yellow copy goes with Hall Monitor to library) DO NOT writeon transfer form unless used Test Administrator - as students finish testing, fill in the appropriate bubble under score code. Bubble “S” for score, “A” for absent, “O” for other, such as a test irregularity or illness during testing If students finish before 2:30 P.M. - notify the POD Administrator Reminder - students are only allowed to read a book while others are still testing English I EOC Testing Proceduresfor Day 1 & Day 2 continued

No person may record confidential test content, write notes, perform calculations, solve test items, or place any other marks in a test booklet Provide allowable accommodations and be aware of different levels of reading support Nonverbal assistance may not be provided Test administrators should read sample items in the same manner as he/she would read test questions Reading support includes test questions, answer choices, charts, tables, graphics, the state supplied mathematics or science charts, and allowable or approved supplemental aids Test administrators must not rephrase, clarify, or interpret any test content Voice inflection must be kept neutral (words that are boldfaced, italicized, or printed entirely in capital lettersmust be emphasized) ORAL ADMINISTRATION

MATERIALS FOR RETURN • Place highlighters and pencils in baggies • Nurse & Bathroom passes must be turned in at the end of Day 1 & Day 2 • Return material in the following order Day 1 & 2: • “Help” sign • “Count” form • “Transfer” Form • Seating Chart • Answer documents in alpha order • Test booklets in numerical order (used or unused) • Test Administrator’sManual • Sign Section 2 of Test Specific Oath at the end of Day 2 • Oral Administrators will need to sign Section 3 of Test Specific Oath

  13. INDIVIDUAL EMERGENCIES Occasionally a student may need to leave for a brief time. No testing material may be taken from the testing room. If student returns the POD administrator, Campus Testing Coordinator, and test administrator involved will determine whether confidentiality has been maintained and if the student should continue testing. If the student cannot continue testing, campus & district administration will determine whether the student’s answer document should be coded “S” score, or “O” other.

  14. SCHOOL EMERGENCIES If a campus emergency takes place (example - Fire Alarm) you will leave the test where they are and go quietly outside, following campus procedures for exiting the building. The safety of you and the students are a priority. The test administrator and all other personnel MUST closely monitor their testing groups to make sure that no one discusses the test. The student should resume testing once the building has been cleared for reentry.
