Thanks for Supporting Scouting • Volunteers are critical to the success of the Scouts in both Troop and Pack 717 • Providing a safe environment requires that all adult volunteers complete BSA Youth Protection Training every 2 years • Our chartered organization also requires unit adults to complete the application and training procedures describes at this website link: http://www.arlingtondiocese.org/childprotection/index.php • These slides will step you through that process

Registration for Virtus Training • New Virtus registration for the one-time 4-hour training must be done online athttp://www.virtus.org • No walk-ins are accepted at Virtus classes • To ensure that Virtusmessages are delivered properly to your inbox, addsystem@pub.virtus.org to your Address Book   • For technical assistance, please contact the Virtushelpdesk @ 1-888-847-8870 • For policy answers from the Diocese on this program call 703-841-3849

  5. Select “View of List Sessions”

  6. From Drop Down Menu, “Select Arlington Diocese”

  7. Scroll Through List To find Your Preferred date for Your Virtus Session

  8. Set Up Virtus Account and Register Online for Course

  10. Tips for Completing Diocesan Training Requirements • Arrive at Virtus course on time and sign in • Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter the course • Stay till the end of course and sign out in order to get credit for attendance • Complete diocesan paperwork and include home parish name if Catholic • Return your packet to St. Andrews parish office who tracks your compliance with diocese • Keep a copy of all your forms

Troop/Pack Training Needs • All diocesan forms for new unit adults must be completed, submitted, and cleared by the diocese prior to participation in unit activities • Upon clearance by the diocese, new unit adults have a “grace period” of 90 days to complete their Virtus training and may participate in unit events pending completion of training • If Virtus is not completed within 90 days of having forms cleared by the diocese, the adult may not participate until Virtus is completed.   12. Troop/Pack Training Needs • Print off a copy of your Virtus training certificate from the Virtus website • Provide a copy to the training coordinator or committee chair • Include date and location of Virtus course attendance • Troop will collaborate with parish office in getting confirming clearance of your paperwork and training compliance with the diocese

Questions about the Process • Call the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish Office at 703-817-1770 for the forms packet • Call the Diocesan Office of Child Protection & Safety about policy questions at 704-841-3849 • Parents of students enrolled in the parish parochial school submit their forms packet to Anne Sisson at 703-817-1774 • A notary is available in both parish and school offices Thanks so very much!
