AIAA Region I YP Conference YPSE-10 AIAA Region I Young Professional, Student and Education Conference 2010  • Friday, October 29, 2010 and Saturday, October 30, 2010 • Kossiakoff Center at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. • Presentations, in any area of interest to the aerospace community, by Young Professionals (aged 35 and under), Graduate, Undergraduate, and K-12 Teachers and Students are sought.  • Other presentations of interest to young professionals or students, such as those by professionals with experience to share, are also welcome. • Best Student Presentation Awards will be made in both the Undergraduate and Graduate categories.   7. Battle of the Rockets! • Rocket design competition for Young Professionals (YP) • AIAA Delaware section is putting together a single team to compete • Want to build a rocket? Join our team! • About the competition • Location: Culpeper, Virginia • Date: April 2, 2011 • Mission: Design a rocket system to safely fly a large raw hen's egg and an electronic altimeter to an altitude of 2000 ft and return it all without damage; the team closest to the altitude wins • Contact Young Professional (YP) Chair • Connor O’Malley (Connor.OMalley@atk.com) + =

  8. CCPS STEM Tech Computing Class • In partnership with ATK, a class on technical computing was held for CCPS high school students on October 15th. • Students were taught basics of Excel and MathCAD and went through a number of exercises to practice the skills they were taught. • Additionally, students were provided with free copies of MathCAD software to take home and expand on what they had learned.

  9. Orion LAS Pathfinder Tour • Several members of the AIAA DE Section were invited to participate as speakers for NASA’s Orion LAS Pathfinder visit to the Franklin Institute. • Members interfaced with the public by sharing information on the successes of the Orion program and discussing the future of NASA’s space program. • There were also a number of free giveaways and videos on display inside the Franklin Institute.

AIAA DE Section LinkedIn Group • If you’re a member of LinkedIn and a member of AIAA, you can now join the new AIAA DE Section LinkedIn Group • Discussion board where members can discuss topics relating to the aerospace industry • Jobs posting board • RSS feeds from some of the aerospace news sites to keep you posted on the latest news in the industry • Go to the Groups link on the top menu and search for “AIAA Delaware Section” • If you’re not a member of LinkedIn, but are interested in becoming one, visit www.linkedin.com to sign up today • While this group is just getting off the ground, we hope it becomes a tool our members can use to stay in touch with others throughout the area
