Robots are mechanical or virtual agents that exhibit behaviors suggesting intent or agency. Dating back to around 270 BC, the first robot was created by a Greek engineer and was used in devices like organs and water clocks. In modern times, aspirations for robots include designs with wheels powered by solar or battery sources. Budget constraints, such as $25, influence the capabilities we can include. This could lead to exciting designs, such as a robot equipped with a plow or one that can shoot objects from its top.

  2. What is a robot? • A robot is a mechanical or virtual, artificial agent. • It is usually an electromechanical system, which, by its appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own.

  3. Robot History The first robot was invented in about 270 BC by a Greek engineer. He made organs and water clocks with movable parts.

  4. Robots used today

  5. Robot ideas • I would like our robot to have wheels and be solar or battery powered. • With a budget of $25 we are limited to the actions our robot can perform.

  6. This is an inexpensive robot kit that I found. We could maybe have a design similar to this maybe with a plow on the front, or even shoot an object out of the top of it.
