  1. Streamed Video Streaming Video Is where a person can view recorded video saved on an independent server, without downloading it. Once the video arrives at the computer that will be viewing it, the file will begin to stream or play in real time. Before the movie can arrive at the computer is needs to be compressed so that it can save time from playing every little detail. Once the video is compressed it then needs to be buffered. Video buffering is important because it prevents the video and sound files from becoming unsynchronized, so that for example a person’s lips move in time with the sound they're making. The picture quality is determined by the available bandwidth (download speed) and the computer’s processor speed. Users with older processors and slower modem connections will have more dropped frames and pixelization. For example, if watching a movie the file can be viewed before the end of the file has been transmitted, so that the video can continue in less time than it would take to download.

  2. Who uses Streamed Video? Streamed Video can be used for a variety of different purposes from entertainment to education. When someone wants to relax they can open up a laptop and start streaming a video or movie of their choice, instantly.

  3. What does Streamed Video offer? Streamed Video is useful because it means that you don’t need to wait for an entire file to transfer before you start watching it. Thanks to streamed video we can open a file and start watching it almost instantly after some loading time. Streamed Video is useful because it can be used on nearly any device. Streamed Video can also be used as an educational tool to improve learning since it can be used to show actual examples and can go through things with a video and audio tutorial for people who find it easier to learn by hearing or seeing. It is a lot quicker and easier to watch a short YouTube video that to go through an entire topic on the board. ClickView is a commonly used educational tool in schools, that would not be possible if not for streamed Video. Problems of Streamed Video The largest problem of Streaming video is Piracy. Because everyone watches live videos, not many people want to go and pay for a movie, video or watch a TV show because they can have it all in the comfort of their room or wherever they are. This hurts Movie sales, which gives the producers less money to work with if they want to make a sequel. TV programs can be removed if they fail to have enough views per week but it is alright to view a show that you missed. Streamed Video can also have problems working sometimes and tend to not be very reliable.

  4. Television is one of, if not the most common form of Streamed Video. The television is one of the biggest inventions of the 20th Century. It has become one of the most common types of entertainment and one of the biggest forms of streamed Video. It is just a way for people to relax and to escape from the world or even learn new information. In the 1880’s a German inventor created simplistic moving images using a filtered light viewed through a spinning disk, thus beginning the introduction for the modern television. During the 1920’s a number of scientist began experimenting with sending still images using radio waves. However, it wasn’t until 1928 that idea of a device that could show moving images was combined with the technology to wirelessly broadcast them. Which dawned the creation of the television. 5. Youtube Web 2.0 It's hard to believe YouTube is only five years old. YouTube is the world's third most visited website after Google and Facebook. YouTube now has over 2 billion views every single day. YouTube is the world’s top video sharing website. It was created by three former PayPal employees in February, 2005. YouTube is a site on which users can upload, view and share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California. It uses Adobe Flash video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as short original videos, and educational videos. YouTube is localized in 53 countries, and now uses 61 different languages.

  6. Skype Skype is a free app that allows a user to make free calls to any other person using Skype, completely free. The video and audio is recorded and sent to the receiver live. Skype can be used on any computer that is connected to the internet and can be installed on most other devices like mobile phones, tablets, Xbox, Laptops, ect. History Before Skype was Kazaa. Kazaa was a peer-to-peer file sharing program used by millions of people in the early 2000′s. Kazaa enabled people to share music files but it also let people share videos and programs as well, which made it very, very popular. The basic structure of a peer-to-peer file sharing network is that whoever’s on the network is connected to everyone else on the network, with no official, central server or group of servers sitting in the middle holding all the files. Because of the large amounts of piracy, the company was sued and the project was dropped. Zennstrom and Friis developed Kazaa a bit more and by around 2003, it became one of the most downloaded piece of software ever. They sold the company to Sharman Networks shortly after who set out to build Skype. Microsoft just bought Skype for $8.5 billion. Not to get too personal, but that’s many, many billions more than I make in a year. But unlike buying a human writing machine like yours truly at an affordable price, Microsoft is paying $8.5 billion for something called Skype. Here’s what it’s getting.
