  20. Where Did They Come From? Using references from The Grapes of Wrath Let’s find them together! Using Google Earth
  21. Where am I? 35°27'37.34"N 94°47'14.81"W Where am I? We were called Okies.
  22. Where am I? 35°24'43.18"N 99°24'15.33"W Where am I? Stopped for a rest along the historic Route 66
  23. Where am I? 35°12'45.18"N 100°44'3.50"W Where am I? We got stuck in the mud in the area known as the Jericho Gap. Got stuck in the mud, but we were helped by some of the local farmers and ranchers.
  24. Where am I? 35°13'19.19"N 101°49'52.67"W Where am I? Continuing our travels west to find a new life. Seems like this Dust Bowl is never ending. Residents that are hanging on here in this Panhandle to the last moment say that some days seem like the 'end of the world'.
  25. Where am I? 35°16'29.20"N 102°39'54.76"W We've reached the midpoint on Route 66 between LA and Chicago. Are we doing the right thing?
  26. Where am I? 35°31'41.08"N 108°44'33.30"W Where am I? Native Americans have lived here for over 10,000 years. We would have loved to put our feet up at the El Rancho Hotel, but we simply did not have the money.
  27. Where am I? 35° 1'35.01"N 114°23'0.85"W Where am I? This is a most colorful stretch of the mother road. We’re told that there is gold! The mines are starting to work themselves dry, but it is still a busy town full of travelers like ourselves. The Mohave winds blow hot.
  28. Where am I? 34°50'53.02"N 114°36'50.88"W Where am I? Stopped at a campsite by the Colorado River to escape some of the heat of the day. Heard from some returning that there are no jobs to be had in California.
  29. Where am I? 34°53'44.87"N 117° 1'2.22"W Where am I? We’ve reached the promise land! However, we are seeing signs that jobs are no longer to be had. Do we continue on Route 66 to Los Angeles or turn north where there might be jobs picking fruit. People here are not pleased to see us.
  30. Where am I? 36°12'27.82"N 119°20'50.42"W Where am I? We spent some time here and thought we had it made. Then we experienced mother nature and needed to get out quick!
  31. Where am I? 35°22'23.85"N 119° 1'7.36"W Where am I? The valley is beautiful! However, we are soon disappointed in the Hooverville we arrive at. It's a shady place with lots of half-starved families living in tattered tents and makeshift shacks. We're told again that there are no jobs here and the owners are corrupt. There might be something more south of here.
  32. Where am I? 35°14'13.14"N 118°54'46.70"W Where am I? Finally! A hot shower! The people seem real nice here. We’re able to pick peaches for 5 cents a bushel, which is robbery, but it’s steady work and is going to put food in our bellies. I think we are going stay here for a while.
