This document outlines the strategic priorities for capacity development and operational support in nutrition for 2013 and beyond. It emphasizes the role of the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) in mobilizing Rapid Response Teams (RRT) to strengthen the capabilities of National Coordination Centers (NCC) amid high staff turnover. It advocates for collaboration with stand-by partners and emphasizes the need for a proactive approach to define and support country clusters in need. The GNC is also tasked with facilitating technical support and coordinating training efforts to ensure effective nutrition management.

Operational Support- NextSteps • GNC-CT: Having a strategy for nutrition support with the stand-by partners = more proactive • GNC-CT: Define and prioritize country clusters that need support (dashboard) • SAG can look at the indicators and have an oversight role on how the partners and country clusters are doing (time of request for example which are already formulated)
Technical Support • GNC facilitate a process of technical support- via a certain mechanism on where to find the information (various forums- CMAM, etc) with the country-level NCC + the co-chair from the government or partners • Cluster Coordination training should be given by the GNC to newly activated Clusters • Trained staff within stand-by partners= priority- someone who is deployable & trained from that organisation- need commitment and from their own funding= not permanent • CLA is supposed to be recruiting in the mean time to fill in any gaps
Information Management Officer Training Package • Priority for 2013, 2014 and on-going basis • EMOPS responsible for the general part of the training package • Involvement of the RRT but Taskforce to lead a draft nutrition-specific training (familiarisation) package and to support countries on information management • Nutrition-specific issues + maps • Data analysis • Tools to bedeveloped
Recrutement of IMO trainer • No need for a IMO trainer= very specific • NCC role to inform and communicate the details on nutrition-specific tools (training package) to the IMO • Global level- EMOPS and a RRT trainer? • Revised job descriptions available of the IMO • Need to include it in regional trainings organized by CLA and the GNC-CT
