  1. EXCHANGE PROGRAMME SCHOOL YEAR 2006/2007 CLASSES 3^B SC. – 3^B LING.

  2. VISIT TO ST. URSULA • …His school is simply wonderful. It is huge, with many empty rooms where you can do homework or play, and more modern with a lot of computers, projectors, and a kitchen, too.

  3. THE SCHOOL The school is the biggest one I have seen in my life! There are two or three or more gyms and two huge rooms where people have lunch and play cards.

  4. THE SCHOOL AGAIN The lesson I preferred was the drawing lesson about Van Gogh. I am not very good at painting and drawing but when I finished my painting I liked it very much, so I was pleased with myself. Then the result of our painting is wonderful!!!

  5. THE TEACHERS • …Then their teachers were all very young and someone also very handsome… you know who! • …also the geography teacher seemed very nice to us and this is the key to be listened to: smile and sympathy

  6. TRANSPORT

  7. THE BIKE …. Every morning I had to pedal for an hour on a bike which was too big for me! But fortunately there were the other two unlucky people with me… of course Alessandro and Chiara. … at three o’clock ( at night) Anoek and I went home BY BIKE but I have to admit it was nice. …Every morning I had to ride a high bike for 1 hour… but this was not so difficult because bikes are more “comfortable” than the Italian ones.

  8. THE HOST FAMILIES • …The host family was very good. They were very helpful and kind. …They wanted to know everything about Italy and the Italians. • …my host family was beautiful. I liked Maud a lot because she was very funny… her mother was very kind and she was also funny like her father… he made me laugh a lot because he had a strange expression when he spoke and the voice of an English comic actor, Mr Bean… • Jose’s parents were very kind to me and they offered me new “views” about Holland ( cooking, geography). Mat was very nice and he laughed a lot making me laugh…

  9. CHIARA AND KRISTA … they tried to make the differences between us as little as possible…I got on well with all the members of the family including Krista’s sister and her horse. They all speak a very good English and we got on well, even if I felt a little embarassed because in some situations I didnt’ know what to do. And I didn’t want to seem rude.

  10. Some more about families • Tom’s parents cooked for me all the things I desired and sometimes they cooked some food only for me, like pasta. • Ivo’s family made me feel at home and with them I had a really good time. It is a large family made up of 5 people.

  11. Valeria’s and Sara’s families • Cindy’s mother, Hettie, took care of me like a mother. In the morning she came to wake me and Cindy up and she was very delicate and sweet. • I lived with Violet… and her beautiful brother Tuur… He is very nice! Her mother asked me everything about my family, my city and my country. … I miss them very much and I look forward to visiting them next summer

  12. VAN GOGH • …my favourite lesson was the art lesson, when the teacher gave everyone a piece of The Starry Night by Van Gogh to reproduce. • The lesson I preferred was the Painting one, as I spent a lovely time with my friends doing something I like. Also our teacher, Ponzi, would be happy if he had such a classroom.

  13. DID YOU ENJOY THE FOOD?... • … I tried everything, but , to be sincere, I ate some horrible food… for example a soup with onions and cow marrow meatballs! And every day in my sandwich there was the WONDERFUL salami with garlic….. • …. On the last day Ivo’s mother prepared a dish made of sausages with a sort of potatoes, carrots and onions. This dish was very tasty… • …the only aspect I didnt’ like was the food. In fact, I only ate sandwiches with strange ham and strange bread and butter..

  14. THE ITALIAN EVENING • …the Italian evening was a very nice moment : we were all together and we danced, sang and amused ourselves a lot. It was one of the best times spent with the Dutch people. • …there were dances, songs and presentations about our country, which made the evening funny and unforgettable! I think this was a great experience, helpful to seal the friendship with the Dutch students.

  15. DANCES…

  16. ….. AND SONGS

  17. …THE CONDUCTOR • …as a conductor of the evening I felt a little embarassed when I had to say something just to pass the time, and I think that these empty times could have been avoided by rehearsing more.

  18. WAS THE EXPERIENCE WORTHWHILE? • …I’m not a person who likes living far from his house because I like comforts such as TV, computer, my sofa and my bed and I usually look forward to going home but this time I had my best time and I didn’t want to come back, mainly thanks to the people but also for the place. • … this was a sad day because we had to say goodbye to nice and kind people who had given us a wonderful hospitality! … I think this experience will be in my mind for the rest of my life! • Another thing that hit me…. is that we could become friends in a very short period of time…. So, I’d do this experience again because it has let us know many things and make friends with other people.

  19. ………. • …. I would like to do this experience again because thanks to it I could learn that not everybody lives like me. • I think this exchange with the Dutch students was a great and important experience because I improved my English and I saw different customs of life.

  20. What OBJECTIVES have been reached? • IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH ( especially SPEAKING and LISTENING) and COMUNICATION SKILLS • SOCIALIZE • OPEN YOUR MINDS TO DIFFERENT WAYS OF LIFE • MAKE YOU REFLECT ON THE DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES WITH PEOPLE FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY. • DESTROY PREJUDICE THROUGH A DIRECT CONTACT WITH A DIFFERENT LIFESTYLE • IMPROVE TEAM WORK • IMPROVE YOUR CREATIVE SKILLS • IMPROVE YOUR COMPUTER SCIENCE SKILLS • MAKE YOU REFLECT ON YOUR OWN WAY OF LIFE AND YOUR REALITY.

  21. WHAT CAN YOU IMPROVE? • THE WAY YOU USE TIME WHEN YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC TASK TO CARRY OUT ( LIKE THE ITALIAN EVENING) • THE WAY YOU COMMUNICATE YOUR IDEAS – DISCUSS MORE BEFORE COMING TO A CONCLUSION • THE WAY YOU MANAGE A ONE-TO-ONE RELATION WITH A FOREIGN PERSON.

  22. … A FINAL WISH • I hope this experience and what you’ve learnt through it will be on your mind for a very long time. Before judging strangers or foreigners and their ways of life, think that you can find something in common with them as you did with your Dutch friends. Think about culture as something alive and interesting, which makes people grow into open-minded beings, tolerant and ready to find in others help and support as most of you did in your host families.

  23. ...... When you travel, think that a place is made by its people, not only by buildings or impersonal tourist resorts where they make you enjoy yourselves as sheep in a flock. Remember that individual, personal contact with local people makes your visit to a country much more enriching. You can still have a great time while learning about places and people!

  24. Goodbyes are always difficult…
