  5. INTASC 4, 5 6 • I have never heard of zero noise signals (ZNS) before class. I believe this concept will be very useful to regain control and refocus a class. A variety of ZNS options were presented. I especially liked and will use the one where the teacher asks the children to put their hands on top of their heads. I want to teach younger kids and this will be an excellent choice for my age group. I plan to use this when I teach Sunday school in a couple of weeks. I have been looking for a tool to get my kindergarten and first grade kids to stop coloring and playing with things on the table. Looking forward to trying this!

  6. Strategies • Diane • A useful strategy is asking the students to repeat the directions or information that they were given which is termed reality check. This allows the teacher to assess comprehension of the instructions or information they have provided. If there is not sufficient comprehension, the teacher can provide the directions or information again using a different format or approach. Reality check also provides the opportunity for students to hear the directions or information in the words of another student, which in itself may aid comprehension
