  1. Common Laboratory Equipment Used for Fluids or Liquids ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Laboratories deal with chemicals and liquids on a daily basis to conduct experiments and tests. It is essential to use appropriate laboratory equipment to handle different types of content to achieve the desired outcome or result. Different equipment, like laboratory plasticware or laboratory glassware, deal with different areas; however, in this blog, we will discuss laboratory equipment that deals with fluids or samples. Beakers The primary function of a beaker is to store and measure fluids or samples. They are mainly used to mix, hold, heat, and stir liquid in laboratories. This equipment is available in various sizes and is generally cylindrical with a nozzle for pouring the sample/liquid. Thermometers The function of the thermometer remains the same in the laboratory as in medicine. It measures the temperature of compounds and liquids used in the experiments. The laboratory thermometers are marked based on calibrated scales, which helps them determine the temperature tested or taken. Bottles Bottles are usually straight in shape, feature a straight neck, and are commonly used for storing, displaying, and mixing liquids. A few glass bottles displaying liquids are of amber color to protect the content inside from reflection of light. Like beakers, bottles are available in different shapes and sizes to suit the laboratory’s demands and are compatible with the stopper. Burettes Burettes are cylindrical-shaped laboratory equipment featuring a stopcock. This glass equipment is commonly used during experiments to measure liquids with precision. Pipette The pipette features a slim glass tube that draws the liquid by suction. Also known as a chemical dropper, this equipment is used to measure and transfer small volumes of liquid. There are a variety of pipettes, and every pipette is used for a particular purpose, either for medical tests or laboratory experiments.

  2. Funnel A funnel is the most common equipment used in laboratories for filling, filtering, transferring, and decanting powders or liquids from one vessel to other. The funnel features a wide mouth and narrow tube that can be placed in the container and, as a result, decreases the risk of spilling. Flasks Flasks or Erlenmeyer bulbs are generally round-bottomed and used for boiling/heating liquids evenly and in distillation experiments. The equipment’s bottom is spherical, and the neck is cone-shaped. Flasks heat quickly due to the flat base, which gives a broader surface. A volumetric flask is made of plastic or glass and is used to prepare solutions and for volumetric analysis. Like bottles, you can spot flasks in amber color to safeguard the contents. The flask is a multipurpose laboratory equipment used for holding, preparing, collecting, or even measuring solutions, chemicals, and samples. It is also used for chemical reactions like heating, mixing, dissolving, cooling, boiling, precipitation, and analysis. Stir Rod It is a glass-based laboratory equipment that can withstand extreme temperatures. A stir rod is used to stir/mix liquids and chemicals in the laboratory. Evaporating Dish These diseases are of glass porcelain and are primarily used to evaporate and heat fluids at high temperatures. A few evaporating dishes can feature nozzles/spouts for transferring liquids. Wrapping Up Quality laboratory equipment for dealing with samples or liquids plays a pivotal role in the experiments and outcomes. Therefore, make sure to source them from a leading laboratory equipment supplier. Source: https://clinivex.wordpress.com/2023/12/18/common-laboratory-equipment- used-for-fluids-or-liquids/
