  14. Pray for the Pope’s Intentions • In 1890, Pope Leo XIII himself proposed to the Apostleship of Prayer a personal papal prayer intention for every month to go with the Daily Offering. From then on, the Universal Intention is entrusted to the Apostleship of Prayer. • In 1929, Pope Pius XI added a second specific missionary intention to pray for Evangelization. • In 2017, Pope Francis changed back to one intention a month. • August, 2017: Artists: That artists of our time, through their ingenuity, may help everyone discover the beauty of creation.

  26. The Famous Exhortation The Feast of St. Francis Xavier – Dec. 3rd, 1844 – Vals, France Fr. Francis X. Gautrelet’sfamous exhortation to the Jesuit seminarians: “Don’t wait to be apostles. Be apostles now! Apostles of prayer!” ‘Be missionaries by means of prayerand by offering each and everyday in union with Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.’ • Offer all the difficulties encountered during the day as offerings of sacrifice. • Offer daily tasks as the primary form of apostolate works.
