Chedeng (Linfa) leaves 37 dead, ... - May 31, 2003 this story was taken from www.inq7.net THE DEATH toll caused by tropical storm "Chedeng" rose to 37 as of Friday. In Malolos City, two houses in the coastal village of Pamarawan were destroyed after a tornado hit the area. At least eight Bulacan towns were still flooded Friday. In Pangasinan, 39 towns and cities in the province were still under floodwater. Chedeng continued to move farther away from the country but a new low pressure area was spotted 130 kms northwest of Zambales.
Damage to farm and fisheries was stimated at 72.3 million pesos. Hard-hit areas were provinces in the Cordilleras and Central Luzon. The water levels in the Ambuklao and Binga hydroelectric dams in Benguet were already near critical levels. As of 7 a.m. Friday, the water level in Ambuklao was 747.75 meters, which is less than five meters below the maximum of 752 meters. The water level in Binga was 570.21 meters, also less than five meters below the maximum level of 575 meters.

CONCLUSIONS • There is a need for much improvement in the RegCM itself. • Reinitialize every 10 days? • More sensitivity studies on Convective Schemes • Investigate PBL ( according to Qian, there is a large change in Ps from land to ocean)
