  2. Essential questions • What is the status of Cyber Bullying in the Philippines? • What helps in massive proliferation of Cyber Bullying in the Philippines? • How can we prevent Cyber bullying from happening in our country?

  3. STATISTICS FACT: Philippines surprisingly has higher technology use than other more developed ones in Asia. Seventy three percent of teens have online social profiles as of 2010. A Cartoon Network study showed 2/3 of Filipino children owns a mobile phone, more than the children in Australia and Taiwan. New Generations 2012 poll further revealed that eight out of ten (82 percent) Filipino children access the Internet at least weekly and over a third (37 percent) are daily Internet users.

  4. Cyber Bullying in the Philippines • Cyberbullying here in the Philippines doesn’t get much attention as there are no official reported cases about it. But just because it remains unreported doesn’t mean that it is not happening. Interviews with the local high school students here show that the youth are aware that cyberbullying is a serious issue. However, most of them do not know how to react when faced with those kinds of situations.

  8. Preventing Cyber Bullying • Senate Bill 2796, entitled the "Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2011," currently pending in the upper House. It was proposed by Senator Edgardo Angara -Voting 13-1, the Senate approved Senate Bill 2796 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. SB 2796 was authored by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, Senators Antonio Trillanes IV, Edgardo Angara, LitoLapid, Manuel Villar, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. Senator TeofistoGuingona III voted against the approval of the bill.

Preventing Cyber Bullying Under SB 2796, cybercrime offenses would include:-Offenses against the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer data and systems (illegal access, illegal interception, data interference, system interference, cyber-squatting, misuse of devices) -Computer-related offenses (computer-related forgery, computer-related fraud) -Content-related offenses (cybersex, child pornography, unsolicited commercial communications, libel)

Preventing Cyber Bullying •  Anti-Bullying School Policy Act (Senate Bill no. 2677) • Focusing more on the school environment, Senator Santiago has made it clear that the main goal of this bill is to promote awareness among the school officials, parents and the young students themselves that cyberbullying is a crime in itself.

Everyone can help stop Cyberbullying by making other people, especially the youth, aware about the real deal on Cyberbullying”
