  14. Suggestions for Technology Plan • More professional development opportunities in the use of technology. • Each campus should have a dedicated IT staff person to assist with training and technology problems. • Update technology plan yearly to add new requirements and remove completed objectives as needed. • Each Campus Improvement Committee (CIC) will evaluate the Technology Plan to determine if the technology infrastructure and equipment are adequate to meet campus needs. Brownfield ISD Long Term Technology Plan

  15. Suggestions for Technology Plan • Effective technology plans are short term, not long term. Five year plans are too long. Technology is changing so fast that it is almost impossible to plan what type of technology will be available for use five years from now. Even one year plans may be about as far ahead as we can now effectively plan for specific purchases of certain types or brands of equipment. Perhaps tech plans should be divided into phases, not years. National Center for Technology Planning 2001

  16. Challenge from U. S. Department of Education • “The challenge for our education system is to leverage the learning sciences and modern technology to create engaging, relevant, and personalized learning experiences for all learners that mirror students’ daily lives and the reality of their futures. In contrast to traditional classroom instruction, this requires that we put students at the center and empower them to take control of their own learning by providing flexibility on several dimensions. “ National Education Technology Plan 2010
