  1. “THE MAN IN THE MIRROR”James 1:22-25 INTRODUCTION: (1.)Dead Clocks are right two times per day. -One can be right and still dead at the same time. -Many churches have right attendance, right buildings, right finance, and right theology, but are still dead. (2.)How do we know when the church is dead? (A.)When everyone sits still in praise and worship (no physical movement)… -DEAD PEOPLE DON’T MOVE!

  2. “THE MAN IN THE MIRROR”James 1:22-25 INTRODUCTION: (2.)How do we know when the church is dead? (B.)When spiritual growth isn’t taking place… -DEAD PEOPLE DON’T GROW! (C.)When lives aren’t being changed because the Word isn’t being heard… -DEAD PEOPLE DON’T HEAR! BODY: (A.)VS.22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only… -The sign of me hearing the Word is my application of it when church is over.

  3. “THE MAN IN THE MIRROR”James 1:22-25 BODY: (B.)These Jews that James is writing to are being persecuted, and James says, “Be doers of the word…” -Obedience in hard times is the mark of a mature Christian. (C.)VS.22 When we hear but don’t do God’s Word, we deceive ourselves. -We know the enemy/devil is deceptive (Eph. 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the WILES/TRICKS/SCHEMES of the devil.”) -It’s even more dangerous to deceive our own selves.

  4. “THE MAN IN THE MIRROR”James 1:22-25 BODY: (D.)VS.23When we read the Word, we are putting our face in a glass (mirror). -The Word is a mirror for me to see ME (MY FAULTS); Not a window for me to see others. (E.)VS.23-24 Hearing without doing is like looking at our NATURAL faces in a mirror and walking away and forgetting how we look. -My natural face is my MORNING (NOT MADE UP) FACE. -Reading God’s Word is like seeing my morning face; it ought provoke me to get myself together.

  5. “THE MAN IN THE MIRROR”James 1:22-25 CLOSE: (1.)VS.25 When we CONTINUE in God’s Word, God blesses (makes us happy/ empowers us to prosper) us. -Michael Jackson says start with The Man In The Mirror (“I’ve got to get myself together!”)! -I’m provoked to get myself together, but “I” can’t do it! *GOD GOT ME TOGETHER THROUGH JESUS 2000 YEARS AGO! *I JUST NEED TO CONTINUE IN HIS WORD!
